The National Monuments Service's description

One of two pits (see KE067-121001-), c. 2m apart, which were revealed during archaeological monitoring of groundworks for an extension to Ballyspillane industrial estate (Lynch 2004, 223). Excavation of this subcircular pit (Wth 0.4m; D 0.17m) revealed that it contained charcoal with significant deposits of rounded stones and the excavator suggests that it may have held a wooden post and may have been associated with a rath (KE067-014----) c. 150m to the SE (ibid.).
