The National Monuments Service's description
This is the present location of an ogham stone (KE066-016005- and/ or KE066-016010-) on top of the S wall of the chancel of Aghadoe church (KE066-016001-) between a crucifixion plaque (KE066-016007-) to its E and an architectural fragment (KE066-016008-) to its W. The stone (L 1.5m; Wth 0.7m; T 0.18m) is embedded horizontally into, and slightly raised above, the upper surface of the rebuilt S wall of the chancel. It is broken into three pieces and has been repaired with cement. The ogham inscription is along the N edge of the stone, as it is embedded. According to Macalister (1945, 237, no. 242), the inscription reads 'BRRUANANN'. However, McManus (1997, 121) read: BRRENANN.
This stone has been studied as part of the ‘Ogham in 3D’ project undertaken by the School of Celtic Studies, Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies. To access details go to the following website:
