The National Monuments Service's description
Built into a W-facing slope on the S side of the present road. A mid/late 19th-century limekiln associated with the adjacent Carraundulkeen Quarry. The random rubble sandstone front wall (H c. 5m) faces W. Arched recess (H 1.7m; Wth 2.6m; D 2.1m) with inner flat arch and sloping slabs to the rear. Three horizontal ledges cross the front wall. A ramp to the rear of the kiln allows access to the funnel (diam. c. 2m). The front wall extended to the N to form one wall of an adjacent lean-to structure.
