The National Monuments Service's description
In pasture, at the top of a low hill. A circular area (54m NW-SE) defined by an inner earthen bank (Wth c. 3.4m; int. H 1.05m; ext. H 3.2m), an intervening fosse and an outer bank. An external berm (Wth 1.9m) occurs outside the inner bank SE-NE. The intervening fosse (Wth 4.3m; D 0.8m) is overgrown with briars. The outer bank (Wth 2.7m; int. H 0.9m; ext. H 2m) has a berm (Wth 2.6m) on its inner face. There is a gap (c. 3m) in the inner bank at SE and in the outer bank at ESE, creating a staggered entrance. The E, S and W arcs of the outer bank are disturbed by field boundaries which radiate outwards from the bank. The interior is level and is overgrown with briars. A possible souterrain (KE059-007001-), hut site (KE059-007002-) and children's burial ground (KE059-007003-) occur within it. This rath was described in the 1840s as 'Rahanaan fort', situated in the centre of the townland 'between Darby Hayes's Fort and the Trig. Station' (OSNB, Kilcummin, no. 2, 33).
