The National Monuments Service's description
In the course of archaeological monitoring in advance of proposed afforestation two separate areas of burnt and fractured stones in a charcoal-rich deposit were discovered. Both were found in the shallow drains which were excavated to allow for mounds of earth to facilitate tree planting. The first burnt spread (KE058-514----) was c. 6m to W of the N-S field boundary dividing the main field. The drain section revealed that the burnt material extended for 2.5m and had a depth of c. 0.4m. The second spread (KE058-515----) was discovered to the SE and had a deposit depth in section of c. 0.3m.
