The National Monuments Service's description

In pasture, on a N-facing slope. A circular area (29.5m NW-SE) defined by an earth and stone bank (Wth 4.85m; int. H 0.6m; ext. H 1.3m) and a shallow external fosse (Wth 0.5m; D 0.2m). Stone-facing is evident on the internal face of the bank along the NW and SE arcs. A cattle gap occurs in the bank at WSW and in general the bank in this area is slightly denuded by animals. The interior is level apart from a slightly raised area in the NE quadrant. The S half of it is covered with overgrowth. A N-S field boundary lies immediately outside the E arc. This rath was described in the 1840s as a 'handsome Danish Fort', 'called Lisspline', in the E extremity of Cloonydonigan Upper (OSNB, Kilcredane, 10, 15).
