The National Monuments Service's description
In a farmyard, on the W side of a small ridge, c. 250m NE of the Laune River. This rath is indicated on the 1846 OS 6-inch map as a circular enclosure (diam. c. 30m). On the 1895 OS 6-inch map only the E half is indicated, incorporated into the field boundary N-NE and by a hachured scarp NE-S. The remains consist of an arc of bank (Wth 4.4m; int. H 0.7m to the level of the yard; ext. H 0.9m) N-NE, faced internally with modern blocks and externally with recent drystone walling. A lane skirts the bank to the N and a farmyard lies immediately to the S. The W half of rath is occupied by an abandoned vernacular house. This is probably 'Doongeel Fort' situated towards the S of the townland and which had 'a house erected on it' which was recorded in the 1840s (OSNB, Killorglin, no. 1, 13).
