The National Monuments Service's description
Lissonenakilla/Lios an Anacail: Roughly oval cashel KE054-019---- is situated on a N facing slope overlooking the Lispole valley. The centre of the enclosure is occupied by a circular clochaun (KE054-019001-) and in the SE quadrant, abutting the cashel wall, is a mound (KE054-019002-). There is no visible trace of the souterrain (KE054-019003-) mentioned in the OSNB (Kinard, 26).
Clochaun: This measures c. 5.3m in internal diameter. The wall is 1.8m thick and the N and S sections are well preserved to a maximum height of c. 0.9m; the E and W portions have almost completely collapsed. The entrance passage faces SW and its N side is now collapsed. There is a small recess at the S side of the interior. Lying inside the clochaun is a slab with a small perforation, .04m in diameter, at one end. This may have been a pivot stone for the door. A similar stone formerly lay near the entrance to the cashel (Curran no.4).
The above description is derived from J. Cuppage, ‘Corca Dhuibhne. Dingle Peninsula archaeological survey. Ballyferriter. Oidhreacht Chorca Dhuibhne’ (1986), no. 536. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
