The National Monuments Service's description

At the SW side of Ventry Harbour, a small lens of shells in a gravel soil is exposed in the cliff section. The shells include those of land snails as well as marine shellfish. The site seems to be quite disturbed and there are possible wall foundations sticking out of the section. The shells may be no more than an inclusion in the material brought to construct the foundations. (information: A. McCarthy)

The above description is derived from J. Cuppage, ‘Corca Dhuibhne. Dingle Peninsula archaeological survey. Ballyferriter. Oidhreacht Chorca Dhuibhne’ (1986), no. 18. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
