The National Monuments Service's description
Cloghaunnanoon/Clochán na nUamhan: Roughly circular ringfort KE042-058---- is situated in the low-lying crescent of land that surrounds Smerwick Harbour, about 100m N of the early ecclesiastical site at Reask (KE042-060001-). A close inspection of the remains is difficult due to a dense cover of ferns and briars but 2 hut-sites are visible in the interior.
(2): The outline of this hut is less well-preserved than Hut (KE042-058002-) but it appears to have been sub-rectangular with internal dimensions of c. 3m E-W and 2m N-S. The wall is represented mainly by a mound of stone collapse, but a short stretch of the inner wall-face at S remains to a height of .3m.
The name of the site (uamhain = cave) suggests the presence of a souterrain (KE042-058002-).
The above description is derived from J. Cuppage, ‘Corca Dhuibhne. Dingle Peninsula archaeological survey. Ballyferriter. Oidhreacht Chorca Dhuibhne’ (1986), no. 521. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
