Cloghaunnanoon/Clochán na nUamhan: This roughly circular ringfort is situated in the low-lying crescent of land that surrounds Smerwick Harbour, about 100m N of the early ecclesiastical site at Reask (KE042-060001-). A close inspection of the remains is difficult due to a dense cover of ferns and briars but 2 hut-sites are visible in the interior. The enclosing bank is a maximum of 1.3m high externally, .5m high internally and is c. 3m wide. The high stone content in the bank suggests either that it is the very ruined remains of a stone wall or that it consisted of an earthen bank revetted with drystone masonry, now collapsed. The probable line of the inner wall-face is shown as a broken line on the accompanying plan. The roadway skirts the S side of the enclosure and the bank has been removed in this sector which is now bounded by a modern wall.
