The National Monuments Service's description
'Located in a marshy field in the foothills of the Slieve Mish mountains are at least five s, with the possibility that about about a dozen more mounds which occur in the field, although less well defined, may also be sites of this type. The field in which they occur is very wet and in all likelihood is prone to flooding in winter. Only the five most obvious ones were recorded. All were distinctive grass-covered mounds, which contain burnt stone and blackened soil. A small stream, which is a tributary of the River Lee, defines the western boundary of the field in which these sites occur.........this is the best preserved mound in the field and, as in the above example, is a classic horseshoe-shaped mound with a trough area which, on this occasion, opens to the east. Total dimensions of the site are 13.5m N/S by 12.0m E/W and the mound attains a maximum height of 1.00m. The trough area measures 3.00m N/S by 4.00m E/W and is 0.50m below the top of the mound.'
