An Chathairín: KE035-017----
A shallow depression, near the WNW edge of the platform, marks the location of a souterrain which was closed up to prevent injury to cattle (local information). The name of the site and the possible remains of an earlier wall beneath the present one suggest that this site was a cashel rather than a rath.
The above description is derived from J. Cuppage, ‘Corca Dhuibhne. Dingle Peninsula archaeological survey. Ballyferriter. Oidhreacht Chorca Dhuibhne’ (1986), no. 574. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
