The National Monuments Service's description
A stone cross and 3 human skulls were discovered in the field immediately to SE in Aughanna townland (CKFC 1945, 605; local information). These suggest the existence of a burial ground in the vicinity but there is no memory of this in local tradition.
The above description is derived from J. Cuppage, ‘Corca Dhuibhne. Dingle Peninsula archaeological survey. Ballyferriter. Oidhreacht Chorca Dhuibhne’ (1986), no. 574. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
