Ringfort - rath

Internal diameter 37m N-S, 40m E-W
This bivallate rath is situated on the side of a hill SSE of KE017-007----, with good views in all directions. It consists of a sub-circular inner area which is enclosed by two banks and an intervening fosse. The enclosing earthen inner bank rises to .6m-2m above the interior and on average 1.9m above the fosse. The U-shaped fosse is well defined and ranges from 2m-5m in width. The outer bank is only distinguishable W through N to E, where it is c 6m wide at the base. It rises to an average of 1.2m above the fosse and 1.2m above the surrounding land. The interior is raised above the level of the surrounding land and two possible entrances are to be noted. One lies to the NE and measures 4m wide at the inner bank and 3m wide at the outer bank. The other lies to the W and is c 2m wide at the inner bank and 5m wide at the outer bank.
