The National Monuments Service's description

Internal diameter 36m N-S, 39.8m E-W
Lisroe/Lios Rua (russet ringfort) is situated on the side of a NE-SW sloping hill, with excellent views in all directions. This sub-circular univallate rath is enclosed by a well-defined bank, which is on average 5m wide at the base and rises to a maximum of 1.9m above the fosse and 1.6m above the interior. The exterior fosse encloses the whole site, except to the N to NE where a field drain and fieldbank run through it. Elsewhere the U-shaped fosse is well defined, .6m-3.2m wide and .6m-1.8m deep. The interior is gently sloping NE. In the central area is a prostrate stone, and on the exterior side to the E is a well. Access is gained to the interior of the rath by three gaps, to the N, SW and W, measuring 3.6m, 2.2m, and 3.6m wide respectively. It is difficult to ascertain which is the original entrance.

The above description is derived from C. Toal, ‘North Kerry Archaeological Survey’. Dingle. Brandon in association with FAS Training and Employment Authority (1995), no. 658. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
