The National Monuments Service's description
Promontory fort described in 2002 as follows; ‘A small low-lying north-west facing subcircular promontory is cut off from the mainland by a modern earthen bank and the remains of an earlier fosse and inner bank, now reduced to a low 1m high scarp. A causewayed entrance gave access to the site from the south. The bank has a barely visible (20cms high max.) inner edge and no trace of stone revetment can be seen. Some undulations in the level of the interior are visible, as are the remains of a perimeter bank running along the shoreline. Otherwise the interior is featureless. The area is one of gently undulating fertile open pasture. The sea is accessible, although with difficulty, from within. Sea rocks extending northwards from the headland exposed at high tide imply the headland was once larger than the present size suggests' (Casey 2002, 30, no. J).
