The National Monuments Service's description
Westropp (1910, 315-16) mentions a promontory fort just S of Brown's Castle (KE009-024002-). This headland appears to have been known as 'Dooneen' and consisted of a crescent-shaped bank, constructed of stone and measuring c3m wide and .8m high, with a shallow fosse about .2m in width and .8m deep. A causeway, 1m in width, traversed the fosse and rampart. Even when Westropp visited here in 1910 it was very much levelled, and today no surface trace of these features survive.
