The National Monuments Service's description
Internal diameter 45m N-S, 48m E-W
Being situated on rising pastureland, there is a commanding view of the surrounding area from this site. This univallate rath consists of a large circular area enclosed by a well-defined bank, with a steep exterior side and a shallow external fosse. The enclosing earthen bank is on average 8.5m wide and rises to a maximum height of 2.6m externally and 1.4m above the interior. The external fosse is now quite shallow and is best preserved to the NW through N to NE; it is c 3m wide and .7m deep. The interior is at a higher level than the surrounding land and is sloping N; access is gained by two entrances. The entrance to the W is c4m wide and has an 8m causeway leading to it across the fosse. The entrance to the E is also c 4m wide. Another 5.2m wide gap exists in the bank to the NW. A lot of sea-shells are to be noted on the external side of the bank to the E.
The above description is derived from C. Toal, ‘North Kerry Archaeological Survey’. Dingle. Brandon in association with FAS Training and Employment Authority (1995), no. 367. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
