Promontory fort described in 2002 as follows; ‘A small northwest-facing headland is cut off from the mainland by a single low earthen bank and external fosse. The headland is 20m long and averages 7m wide, and is narrowest where the fortifications cross the isthmus. A small rise in the level of the interior close to the eastern cliff edge is the only visible internal feature. The sloping sea-rocks give access, with difficulty, to the sea below. The nature of the geology suggests that the sea has eroded an originally much larger headland. The area is generally one of fertile rolling pasture and the site is overlooked by higher ground along the coast road. A recent earthen bank runs along the shoreline’ (Casey 2002, 49, no. P).
