The National Monuments Service's description
Internal diameter 37.4m N-S, 38m E-W
Situated in the corner of a field, a small stream runs W. This circular univallate rath consists of a circular area enclosed by an earthen bank, though to the E stone facing is evident. The enclosing bank is 2.4m high externally and 1.4m above the interior. The width of the bank at the base measures c 4m. The interior is at a slightly higher level than the surrounding land and contains the collapsed remains of a souterrain chamber (KE005-036001) and passage. The collapsed chamber is indicated by a depression 8m x 6m externally. Extending out from this depression in a SE direction is the possible passage, extending towards a 3m wide gap in the bank. The passage is 18m long x c 4m wide x .5m deep. Another gap exists in the bank to the S and is c3m wide.
The above description is derived from C. Toal, ‘North Kerry Archaeological Survey’. Dingle. Brandon in association with FAS Training and Employment Authority (1995), no. 298. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
