The National Monuments Service's description
Described in OS Letters (O'Flanagan 1972, Vol. 1, 645) as 'a templeen' but named as 'Church' on 1st ed. of OS 6-inch map. It is marked thereon as a roofed rectangular building aligned E-W. All that now survives is its grassed-over outline (E-W; L 12m, Wth 6m) defined by a wall foundation (H 0.2-0,5m; Wth 0.8m) and partially shaded by a solitary chestnut tree. A gap towards W end of S wall may mark the position of the doorway. A small almost square enclosure (E-W 11.5m, N-S 11m) adjoins it on N side. This is defined by a low bank with a possible entrance at NW corner. According to local tradition, this church was in use until the early 19th C. This and its stratigraphical relationship with the enclosure (GA087-211004-) that lies to its NW hint that it may be a post-medieval foundation, possibly a pre-emancipation RC chapel, though the td. name might suggest otherwise. A CBG (GA087-211002-) and a series of earthworks (GA087-211003-) are associated. (ASGAP 171:10)
