The National Monuments Service's description

A small, uninhabited island to NW of Oileán Mhic Dara, at SE end of which 2nd ed. of OS 6-inch map (1899) shows a ruined rectangular church, with a holy well (GA076-005002-) immediately to SE. O'Flaherty recorded the existence of a 'chapel' here in 1684, dedicated to St Coelann (Hardiman 1846, 102-4), but the OS Letters state that 'there is no chapelta it at present' (O'Flanagan 1927a, Vol. 3, 68, 71). Not visited. (Killanin 1954, 103)

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. I - West Galway'. Compiled by Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1993).
