The National Monuments Service's description

Enclosing a hill summit in undulating pastureland. A circular enclosure (D c. 160m) defined by a scarp, an intervening fosse/berm, an outer bank and outer fosse. The inner scarp falls directly into the fosse from SE to S but there is a berm (Wth c. 3m) outside it at NW and N: the fosse itself is evident from SE to S only. The outer rampart comprises a collapsed stony bank overlain by a field wall; the shallow outer fosse contains much stone. A gap (Wth 3m) in the outer rampart at SE, and corresponding causeways (Wth c. 6m) across both fosses, may represent the original entrance. The interior consists of heavily griked limestone pavement partly covered by dense hazel scrub, particularly in E section. A house (GA071-046001-) lies c. 10m outside the enclosure at NE.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999).
