The National Monuments Service's description
In low-lying level farmland. According to local information, there was a 'convent' here. All that is visible is a section of a mortared stone wall (L 7.4m, Wth 1.2m, H c. 2.7m) composed of fairly large stones with a slight base-batter. A statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary is set into a crevice in the wall. This monument also extends on to OS sheet 70 (GA070-006----).
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999).
