The National Monuments Service's description
On a NE-facing slope in gently undulating grassland. Knockmaa Hill is visible to W. An irregularly shaped rath (E-W c. 34m, N-S c. 33m) defined by a bank and external fosse; the latter is visible from SW to WNW. A field wall cuts the monument at N and S. A number of breaches in the bank appear modern.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999).
