The National Monuments Service's description
Within a ringfort (GA042-158----) and partially underneath a rectangular house. A drystone-built souterrain consisting of at least three chambers connected by two creeps. Access to 1st chamber (L 4.5m, Wth 1.5m), running NW-SE, is via a small gap at SE end. About midway along NE wall, a creep (L 1.1m, Wth 0.85m, H 0.7m) leads to 2nd chamber (L 5.9m, Wth 1.4m) which runs NE-SE. The 3rd chamber lies c. 3.6m to SE of 1st chamber. It is subcircular in plan (NE-SW c. 4m) and runs NNE-SSW. Access is gained at SSE side. There is a creep (Wth c. 1m) at NW which probably leads to 1st chamber.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999).
