The National Monuments Service's description

On a prominent rise in otherwise low-lying grassland. Circular rath (D 31.5m), in fair condition, defined by two banks and an intervening fosse. The inner bank has been quarried out from N to E where an irregular scarp forms the enclosing element. The fosse and outer bank are best preserved from SSW through W to N. Entrance gap at E. There is a small hollow within the interior. According to local tradition, two boulders (entirely natural), lying c. 350m to NE and c. 120m to S respectively, are regarded as bullauns.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999).
