The National Monuments Service's description

Close to cliff edge on S side of the island and a short distance SE of the smaller lake. The poorly preserved foundations of a rectangular building (L 7m, Wth c. 4m) defined by a double-faced wall with an entrance on S side. This is roughly centrally placed with a faint rectangular enclosure (L 22.4m, Wth 19.5m) defined by traces of a grassed-over stone wall. Some 50m to E in a hollow along the cliff edge is a notable level patch of ground enclosed by an intermittent low bank of stone. (Macalister 1986a, 204; Herity 1977, 58)

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. I - West Galway'. Compiled by Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1993).
