The National Monuments Service's description

Associated with ringfort (GA017-116----). According to Neary (1914, 111, no. 81), 'a souterrain ran S.E. to the Sinking River under the old avenue'. Locally it is believed that there is a 'tunnel' within the ringfort but no visible surface trace survives.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999).
