The National Monuments Service's description

Close to the summit of a hill in grassland overlooking the Sinking River to S. Well-preserved circular rath (D 51.5m) defined by a bank and external fosse. No visible surface trace of the enclosing elements survives from SE through S to W. Neary (1914, 111, no. 81) also mentions an 'outer bank, which was about 5ft. [1.52m] on N., [but which] disappears to S', all trace of which is also gone. A probable souterrain (GA017-116001-) is associated.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999).
