The National Monuments Service's description
On a rise overlooking Bunnamullen Bay, Inishbofin, to N. The OS Letters (O'Flanagan 1927b, Vol. 1, 484) refer to 'Ait Tighe Guairim i.e. the site of the House of Guairim [who] is said to have been contemporary with Saint Colman'. Indicated on 1st ed. of OS 6-inch map as a rectangular structure but evidently removed by time of 2nd ed. (1899), when the words 'Site of' are appended. No visible surface trace survives. The site of Guairim's Castle (GA099B019----) lies to S. (Hardiman 1846, 116)
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. I - West Galway'. Compiled by Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1993).
