The National Monuments Service's description
Situated on the S slopes of Piperstown Hill. A habitation site known as Site Q. ‘Site Q: A large circular ring of stones. It averages about 5 m. in internal diameter and appears to have an entrance at the E. The wall averages about 60 cm. in width and about 20 cm. in height. In the S-W of the site there appears to be a sort of "annexe." At the centre of the enclosure are three sides of what may be a somewhat disturbed hearth-site of small stones, not all, apparently, of the same material’ (Rynne and Ó hEailidhe 1965, 75). This is part of an extensive settlement and cemetery of Late Neolithic/Early Bronze Age date.
