The National Monuments Service's description
No.71 Thomas Street is a mid-terrace two-bay three-storey (formerly four-storey) brick house, c.5m wide and c.9m in height to parapet, with a modern timber shopfront at ground level. The fourth storey and roof were removed in the late 20th century, but the outline of a former cruciform roof to No.71 is visible on the gable of No.72. This would suggest early, possibly 17th century, origins.
