In 1615 the Dublin Assembly Roll recorded an agreement between the inhabitants of; 'Saint Thomas street, Saint James street and Saint Fraunces street shall have thuse of the voyde grownd in theast end of Saint Molloyes chappell, soe as they errecte foorthwith a stronge grate of tymber with a shedd over it on the premisses, and provide a good substanciall paiere of stockes, all uppon the proper costes and chardges of the said inhabitantes, for the punnyshinge of dysordered persons and night walkers, and to noe other use or purpose' (CARD Vol. 3, 56). In 1620, a lot known as 'St. Molloys Chapel' anglicised version of St. Molua was described as being located at the W end of New Row at Thomas Street (Donnelly 1905, 2, 202; Bradley and King 1987, Vol. 2, 123). Clarke has located this site to the junction of Thomas Street and St. Augustine Street and suggested that it was a wayside church standing at the cross-roads between the Slige Mhór represented by Thomas Street and Slige Midluachra represented today by St Augustine Street (Clarke 2002, 1). There are no surface remains visible and the precise location of this chapel has not been identified.
