The National Monuments Service's description
Dunton (1982, 77) wrote the following account about the Infirmary at the Royakl Hosptial Kilmainham; Without the wall nearer to the river stands the Infirmary in which also the steward of the hospital and his family dwell'. Infirmary building described by the National Inventory of Architectural Heritage (NIAH) as a; 'two-storey infirmary, built c.1730, comprising five-bay block, attached by lower single-bay block to six-bay recessed block to south, two-bay gable-fronted addition to front (west) elevation of block to south, single-storey three-bay range set perpendicular to main ranges. Breakfront to front of main block. Multiple later extensions to rear (east) elevation. Now disused. Like the nearby Dr Steevens’s Hospital, this complex of infirmary building was designed by Thomas Burgh, and was associated with the nearby Royal Hospital Kilmainham, forming part of an institutional group' (https://www.buildingsofireland.ie/buildings-search/building/50080082/royal-hospital-kilmainham-military-road-saint-johns-road-dublin-8-dublin; NIAH reg.
