The National Monuments Service's description
Dublin Castle: This was a small turret which was located midway along the S curtain wall which forms part of the Dublin City wall. It was three storeys high in 1585; demolished c. 1766 and a polygonal tower erected on the site (Healy 1973, 17; Clarke 2002, 22).
