The National Monuments Service's description
The Civil survey (1654-6) describes a mill at Westpalstown (Simington 1945, 42). This may be the same mill which is marked on Duncan's map (1821) and as 'cornmill' on the 1837 OS 6-inch map. As described in 1994 the west end of a stone-built mill survived in a farmyard where it served as a store. It was a two-storey building with a loft. The entrance was in the S wall. The interior lit by plain windows with stone sills in the west end of the south wall and at ground-floor level in the west wall. A doorway in the upper east gable gave access to the loft at the west end. Corrugated iron roof (Vernacular Buildings Survey of County Dublin 1994 (3/153)). The buidlingds depicted on the 1837 6-inch map are no longer extant.
