The National Monuments Service's description

Located on a low ridge of rock outcrop with a stream and marshy land to S and E respectively. Natural rock outcrop that has been landscaped by the planting of beech trees around the base of this rock outcrop. It is possible that the occupiers of Danby House located 170m to the W may have landscaped this rock outcrop by creating a bank around the base of the outcrop into which beech trees were planted. On top of this rock they may have constructed a small summer house or gazebo. Danby gate lodge is located across the road to the W. This appears to be a post-1700 AD landscape feature.
