The National Monuments Service's description

According to local tradition the first church in Ballyshannon was built by Sir Henry Foliot was constructed beside the Erne in Market Yard. It was not until 1691 that the church was moved to its present site at Mullaghnashee (Bradley & Dunne 1989, 22). The present building was erected in 1841 and incorporates an eighteenth century core (Rowan 1979, 127).
