The National Monuments Service's description
On W slope of the Blackstairs mountains, c. half way up, at the foot of scree covered area. Prominent views in all directions except to the E which is blocked by the mountain. Aligned N-S, irregularly shaped granite stone (E face: max. H 2.26m; min. H 1.41m; Wth at base 0.99m; Wth at mid-point 0.9m. W face: max. H 2.65m; Min. H 1.64m; Wth at base 1.05m), with large quartz vein in upper portion visible on both E and W faces. Rectangular lower half which tapers inwards from c. mid point from N to S. Roughly rectangular S and N facing sections which taper slightly towards the top. Possible packing stones visible at base of W face.
