The following description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Carlow' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1993). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.

Approximately oval area (61m E-W, 49.5m N-S), originally enclosed by earthen bank, now lying below stone wall. Bank does not appear to have survived at E and is best preserved at S (ext. H 1.6m; Wth 5.2m). Gap at N probably original. Secondary entrance at W. At N traces of external fosse visible (Wth 3m; D 0.3m).
Aerial photograph (GB89.S.14) shows well preserved ringfort (Barrett 1989).
