The following description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Carlow' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1993). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.

According to local tradition, stood adjacent to Garryhill House. No definite visible traces. Wall of walled garden and part of S side of stable yard regarded as part of castle. Shape of garden suggests possible bawn. Date stone (TB 1690) incorporated in gateway to garden.
