The National Monuments Service's description
Marked 'Gravel Pit' on OS 1836 ed. and 'Fort' on the OS 1876 ed. Situated on the summit of a high drumlin hill. Site has been levelled and the only surface remains at the location indicated is a low kidney-shaped mound of earth and stone.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cavan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1995). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
