The National Monuments Service's description

Sited on the SW shoulder of a high drumlin hill. Low circular earthen mound (diam. 5m; H 0.5m) enclosed by a low earthen bank with shallow internal fosse. One of six small circular enclosures noted on OS 1836 and 1876 eds. under the collective designation 'Cromwell's Camp' - presumably a barrow cemetery. This is the only upstanding barrow of the former complex. It is known locally as the site of 'Cromwell's tent'.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cavan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1995). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
