The National Monuments Service's description
Marked 'Fort' on OS 1836 and 1876 eds. Raised circular area (int. diam. 22.7m) enclosed by an almost completely denuded drystone wall. The site is divided into four roughly equal portions by a field boundary running NW-SE and a laneway aligned NE-SW. The enclosing wall is best preserved from NE-E-SE (Wth 3.2m; H 1.1m). From SE-S-SW a series of large upright boulders define its outline. Elsewhere only faint traces survive. Original entrance not recognisable.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cavan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1995). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
