The National Monuments Service's description

S of Rathcool-Mountgabriel boundary; E slopes of mountain. Near-horizontal working, driven 230° into N facing rock scarp. Excavation of waterlogged peat infill exposed primary mine sediment containing wood fragments and stone mauls. Overall length c. 2m; entrance (Wth 1.8m; H 1.2m); interior (Wth 0.8m; H 0.6m). No extant spoil dumps outside mine; probably spread over bottom of E-W valley below entrance. Radiocarbon dates for primary wood: (BM-2336) 3130 ± 80 BP and (GrN 15967) 3280 ± 35 BP (O'Brien Mine 24)
