The National Monuments Service's description
In rough stony pasture, on a S-facing slope surrounded by mountains near the waterfall at the head of the Coomgira valley. An oval area (12m E-W; 9.5m N-S) is defined by intermittent traces of a low fern-covered earthen bank (Wth 0.9m; H 0.15m) best preserved along the SE-SW arc. The level interior is raised (H 0.7m) at S and cut into the upslope (D 0.5m) at N to compensate for the hillslope. Two other enclosures (CO116-042----, CO116-035002-) lie c. 40m to the NE and c. 55m to the SW, respectively.
The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 5' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009).
