The National Monuments Service's description
In rough peaty hill pasture, in an area of mainly cutaway bog, on the undulating S-facing slopes of Maulin. Turf-cutting has exposed the remains of a network of relict stone field boundaries (max. H 0.65m; max. T 0.55 m) which protrude from the remaining shallow bog and appear intermittently in a roughly rectangular area (c. 550m NW-SE; c. 150m NE-SW). Some stretches of the gently curving walls consist of upright slabs that are set at right angles to the line of the wall, while other stretches protrude from the side of turf banks abandoned by turf-cutters. The walls extend a short distance into the neighbouring townland of Rodeen. Two hut sites (CO115-148001-, CO115-148002-) are c. 250m to the N.
The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 5' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009).
