The National Monuments Service's description

In rough pasture, on the E bank of a river at the foot of a steep S-facing rocky slope. A horseshoe-shaped gorse-covered mound (13m N-S; 9.1m E-W; H 1.3m) of heat-shattered stones and charcoal-enriched soil. The opening (Wth 2.5m) faces W towards the river. Sheep paths truncate the mound at NE and SE and the river is eroding the extremities of both arms of the mound. There is a hut site (CO103-027004-) c. 65m to the W.

The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 5' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009).
